Aspects 101: The Ego

While the “ego” tends to get a bad reputation, when given the right tools this aspect can be our BEST FRIEND.

The Ego

“Give me a BREAK!” – A Helpful Visualization

The Ego

In order to be effective, we need to take breaks, even the left brain. So for just a little while I like to imagine we’re giving him a well needed rest.

Since the left brain tends to be more masculine, I usually imagine it as an overworked man running a very busy office. He likes to be in charge, and he’s good at it.

He might have a phone, a headset, and a microphone. He might be sitting at a computer and trying frantically to organize things into specific categories. He’s dealing with a lot of “judging”. “right, wrong”, safe, unsafe, black white.

He’s very good at this job, and he is very well known for how effectively he runs the show. He loves validation, and he’s here to help YOU- so when you give the ego praise, he’s pleased as punch to receive positive attention.

So imagine, that today you visit him and give him the good news- he is getting a reward.

For doing such an excellent job he’s privileged to take some well deserved TIME OFF!

Just like a long haul trucker has to pull over to the side of the road for rest, the ego needs to rest and the vehicle needs to be serviced.

Assure the ego: You’ll take care of the office while he’s gone. We can even update that office while he’s out.

The left brain likes to put things into KNOWN categories.  The Ego might only have five folders for data he’s getting from the “senses”. But what if you get “extra” sensory data? We don’t want the left brain to reject that. So we might put in another folder, say, “ESP”, or even just put a file with an “asterisk*” or “?” on it for things we don’t understand immediately.

I want to you see him taking off his headset, pushing away from the desk, getting up from the chair, and leaving the office with a proud grin, knowing he’s doing his job.

See him leaving the office, taking the hallway down the the elevator, getting in the elevator, and taking it down to the first floor. He’s leaving the building, practically skipping out the door, happy to be given this attention. Now he can do whatever it is he likes. He can start to imagine anything. He could:

After the ego has relaxed a bit and starts to trust the process, we can easily use the right brain -commonly associated with the intuition- to explore other lives and helpful perspectives.

  • Read a book, paint a picture, or even take a nap.
  • He might like to chant a mantra, or repeat a familiar phrase, like, “red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple”
  • Count backwards, down from 100
  • Enjoy nature, watch the clouds drift by, or relax by watching animals in a park.

He’ll probably be tempted to listen in, and that’s okay. The conscious mind is very much AWARE during trance work: but the ego takes a little rest, knowing you’re in good hands. His JOB during this time is to step aside and to relax. He is VERY good at his job, right? so he’ll be great at relaxing as well, especially as he practices.

Once the monkey mind settles down, we can do our work in other brain states.

We can even ask to speak to the Higher Self or Subconscious Mind. In these deeper Theta trance states any of our parts that need attention can come to the surface.

During Quantum Healing Hypnosis, Neuro-linguistic Programming and Soul Consolidation sessions we make sure all of your aspects are on the same page, working together harmoniously as a team for your greatest benefit.
